Dennis Harper went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, to Claudia Mae Bigham and Billy Lee Harper. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He married the love of his life, Cheryl Sue Bombard Harper, on December 29, 1984. Together, they built a life centered around family. Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, friends and loved ones will always remember him simply as “Harper” and for the jokes that came so naturally to him.
Dennis was the owner and operator of Cititel Communications and took great pride in his work. One of his greatest professional accomplishments was servicing the State Fair of Texas each year a role he remained proud of up until his passing.
In his younger years, Dennis lived life with energy and grit. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, playing soccer, and participating in rodeos for the North Mesquite High School Rodeo Club. In his young adulthood, he became an avid cyclist. Later in life, he found joy in watching and following sports, particularly the Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed golf and fishing.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Claudia Mae Bigham; his father, Billy Lee Harper; and his grandmother, Margaret Talent.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his daughter, Amanda Harper Azua, and her husband, Samuel Azua, and their four children Alayna, Justin, Ezekiel, and Shelby; and his son, Dennis Lee Harper, Jr., and his fiancée, Devin Hludzik; his brother, Jeffrey Morrow; his wife, Christy Morrow; and their children Kayla, Jacob, and Emma.
Dennis was a proud grandfather, and each of his grandchildren brought him immense joy. He was incredibly proud of his children and the lives they built, often speaking with admiration of their strength, perseverance, and accomplishments.
Dennis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
