A graveside service for Denman Earl Cox, 81, of Rockwall, Texas will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 in the Rosehill Cemetery located at 405 Waters Street, Cleburne, Texas 76033 with Pastor Tommy Smith officiating.

Denman Earl Cox, born on February 18, 1944, in Blum, Texas, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Rockwall, Texas. He was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life, leaving behind a legacy of love and humor that touched all who knew him.

He dedicated his life to serving as a police officer, a role he loved dearly. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his devotion to his family. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, going on long drives, and embarking on road trips to explore new sites. Conversations with friends were another joy for Denman; he delighted in reminiscing about the past during long telephone chats, always bringing his witty sense of humor into the mix. His fondness for western movies, old country music, a cup of coffee, a Dr. Pepper, and a piece of pie were hallmarks of his personality, revealing his appreciation for life's simple joys.

Denman was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ruth (Lucus) Cox; his beloved wife, Vickie Kay Cox; sons, Gene Cox, John Pettus, and Mike Pettus; his brother, Wendell; and his first wife, Wanda.

He is survived by his children, Brad Cox and his wife Barbara, Tim Pettus and his wife Carol, and Kathy Duke, Dedra Hicks and her  husband Jeff; grandchildren: Hanna, Haden, Hunter, Bradley, Ashley, Jessica, Tyler, R.J., Tony, Cyndee, Carrie, Brooke, and Kain; several great-grandchildren; sister, Carma Hook;  nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members.

His life was a testament to the warmth of family, the joy of friendships, and the beauty of life's simple moments. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
