A graveside service for Darrell Dennison Ballard, 89, of Covington will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in the Sand Flat Cemetery, Johnson County, Texas with Reverend Kenneth Coleman and Pastor Mark Crosby. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, Texas 76033 on Monday, September 28, 2026.

Darrell Ballard passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Ft. Worth, Texas after a short illness.

He was born in Pasadena, CA in 1937 to Houston and Odessa Ballard and he was singing from the start. The family moved around following construction work on dams, bridges and highways. In time they made it back home to Texas. He met the love of his life, Betty, on a Covington school bus. They were married for 72 years and had three children. He was a flooring installer by trade and had his own carpet business in Burleson, Texas, known as “Ballard Carpets”, for40 + years.

Darrell was a born-again Christian. He loved to sing and played several instruments but preferred the guitar. The Singing Ballard Family travelled on weekends and sang at many churches for years. Darrell was pastor and founder of Burleson Baptist Temple in Burleson. He continued throughout his life to sing and preach the Gospel.

Darrell was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Lee Ballard.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ballard; son, Darren Ballard & his wife, Cathy; daughter, Penny Bishop & husband, Gary; brother, Lee Ballard; son-in-law, Billy Nors; three grandsons, Jacob Ballard & wife, Brittany, Nathan Ballard & wife, Monica, and Noah Nors; granddaughter, Hannah Beltran & her husband, Caleb; three great grandchildren, Teo Beltran, Jaina Ballard and Benjamin Ballard.
