Claudine "Mimi" (Humphries) Young

Claudine Potter Young, born on May 9, 1942, in Abilene, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her life. Claudine was born to Arnold and Minnie Humphries and was raised with strong values of faith, family, hard work, and service to others. Those values remained at the center of her life and were reflected in the way she cared for everyone around her. On April 22, 1961, Claudine married the love of her life, Arthur Joe Potter. Together they built a loving home and raised five children: Patrick, Denice, Anne, Beverly, and Devohn. Following Arthur Joe’s passing, Claudine later found companionship and happiness again when she married Buddy Young on January 19, 1997. Together they shared many cherished years until his passing.

Claudine was known for her generous spirit and her many talents. She found great joy in cooking and baking for family and friends, often expressing her love through the meals and treats she lovingly prepared. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in nurturing beautiful flowers and plants. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she faithfully served her church in many capacities over the years. A gifted pianist, Claudine found joy in music and delighted in sharing that gift with others. She especially enjoyed teaching young children the basics of piano, encouraging them with patience and kindness as they learned. Her gentle guidance and loving heart left a lasting impression on many young lives. Above all, Claudine treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose love, wisdom, and faith created a legacy that will continue for generations. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Minnie Humphries; her husband, Arthur Joe Potter; her husband, Buddy Young; daughter, Beverley Potter and her fiancé Stephen Goddard and Grandson Barry Wayne Martin. As well as her brother Garland, Billy and Arnold (Rusty) Humphries.

Claudine is survived by her children, Patrick Potter (Ann); Denice Warenskjold (Tony); Anne Foster; and Devohn Pugh (Jonathan), Cheryl Haines, Cathy Peacock (Steve), Mark Young (Sherry), and Chris Young (Karine). She’s also survived by 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Brothers Claude Humphries (Lola) and Nolan Humphries as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
