Claudie Mitchell Walton passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 in Parker County, Texas during a fatal automobile accident along with her daughter, Dorthey. Claudie was born on January 23, 1960 in Cleburne, Texas. Claudie married Okie Eugene Walton on October 29, 1976 in Cleburne, Texas. She was a dedicated member of Victory Church, Cleburne since 2007.
Although she often appeared quiet, she was not weak and those around her knew where she stood on things. That fierce strength helped drive her to overcome numerous obstacles throughout her life-time. Her deep faith grounded her and allowed her to reach others as well. Claudie was ordained as a minister over 15 years ago and was a prayer-warrior for many. She founded “Feed My People” as an outreach to those in need, which later turned into a ministry at the church and throughout the community as a whole – and is still running today, over almost 20 years ago.
Claudie was known for showing her love through her cooking and baking skills in addition to her “open arms” nature and hospitality. She created Nana’s Homemade Sweet Treats, selling her baked goods to many this year. Claudie’s talents in the kitchen were put to use throughout countless events, fund-raising campaigns and various other needs for others throughout all of Johnson County. If you ever tasted her breads, pies or cookies – you know why her goods were sought after. Her giving nature and dedication to serving others often had her working in the kitchen, no matter what other burdens of her own she was carrying. She was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know and love her.
Claudie was dedicated to her family, to say the least. She put her family and loved ones above all else, even before herself. Always with a little grin and a full-heart, she worked to ensure that her family knew how much she loved each of them. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and compassion behind as well as lessons in working hard and giving to others.
Claudie was preceded in death by her parents, Doran “Red” and Inez Whitehead Mitchell; sisters, Dorthey Walker and Anna Garrett; and former husband, Okie Eugene Walton. She passed away along-side her daughter, Dorthey Mae Walton McGee.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Walton; grandchildren, Hunter Hodges, Carli Wallace, Timothy Wallace, Pearl Miles, and Christian McGee, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Jameson Hodges, Vivienne Hodges, and Christian McGee, Jr.; son-in-law, Shawn McGee; sisters, Verna Steele, Karen Martin, and Leta Anglin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of other family members.
