Charles Woodroe Henderson, 82, of Alvarado, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Alvarado, Texas. Born on January 19, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, he was a true embodiment of warmth and kindness, never knowing a stranger and always ready to offer a helping hand.
He had a passion for tinkering with cars and doing mechanic work, a skill he enjoyed sharing with those around him. He was a truck driver for over 60 years.
Charles will be remembered fondly as a loving husband, brother, and grandfather. He was a devoted family man who was often referred to by his children as the "best dad ever."
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Helen Henderson, and his parents, Marvin and Lovetia Carrell Henderson.
Charles is survived by his children, Charles Henderson, Shellie Stokes and her husband Wayne, and James Borden and his wife Thanh; his grandchildren, Christina Borden, Wayne Stokes, Jr., Krystal Stokes, Derek Stokes, Thi Borden, Kim Borden, and Helen Borden; great-grandchildren, Justin, Victoria, Tristan, Elijah, Jay, Samuel, and Hazel; his siblings, Wanda Morris, Dora McCoy, Larry Henderson, Minnie Wallace; sister-in-law, Mary Moses; dear friend, Raymond Webb, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The spirit of Charles Woodroe Henderson will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His generosity, love, and zest for life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by family and friends alike.
