C.B.. "Jack" Wood

Service for C.B. “Jack” Wood, 97, of Arlington will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 3, 2023 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Pastor Linroy Kilgore officiating. Masonic rites and graveside services will follow at 2:30 P.M., in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the funeral home.


Mr. Wood passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 in Arlington. He was born November 18, 1925 in Blue Ridge, Texas. He married Elgie May Smith on February 16, 1946 in Paris, Texas. They were married 76 years at the time of her passing in 2022. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a family man, and has been credited with being the one who kept the family together. Jack worked as a machinist for LTV for a number of years and ended his career at Bell Helicopter before retiring with 25 years of service there. He was a 32nd degree Mason, having received his 65 year award just this year. Serving as a Mason was a large part of his life and he served as Past Master at various lodges throughout Texas. His membership has been at Sweet Home Masonic Lodge, Arlington most recently. Jack enjoyed riding motorcycles in formation for parades representing the El Texa Grotto Masonic Lodge. He was a teacher of all things Masonic and served as a clown for the Shriners. Jack was a people person and especially loved to entertain people. He and his wife sang country and gospel music together for several decades. Jack spent countless hours tending to his garden and fishing. His loving nature and giving spirit will be missed greatly by the countless lives he touched during his lifetime and service to others.


Mr. Wood is survived by his children and their spouses, Jackie Powell & Larry, Mike Wood & Nelda and Val Wood & Lisa; grandchildren, Sean, Angie, Jamie, Rachel, Rebecca, Sara, Heather, Hayley, Elizabeth, Jordon, Mikayla and Jack; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Mr. Wood is preceded in death by his parents, Claude B. Wood and Vera Abshire Wood; wife, Elgie M. Wood; great grandson, Billy Powell; brothers, Broudia Wood, Delbert Wood; and sisters, Gloria Abshire and Charlene Abshire.
