A funeral service for Bill Southerland, 87, of Cleburne, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX 76033, with Mr. Clyde H. Slimp officiating. Interment will follow in the Bono Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Lee, Cody Lee, Brody Lee, David Southerland, Landon Southerland, Noah Southerland, Matt Southerland and Key Vaquera. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Bill Southerland, a devoted family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, in Cleburne, Texas. He was born on April 4, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas. Bill was a remarkable individual who dedicated his life to serving others and nurturing those he loved.
A man of strong faith, Bill was a long-standing member of Westhill Church of Christ. His devotion extended beyond spirituality; he cherished every moment spent with his family.
His passions were as diverse as his interests. He enjoyed hunting, baseball, and fishing, always eager to share these experiences with his children and grandchildren. An avid chess player, he thrived on challenges, always engaging thoughtfully with the game. He was recognized for his dedication and contributions as a Boy Scout leader, receiving many awards throughout his time in that role.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha Faye Southerland, and his parents, Eaphy and Gracie Southerland.
He is survived by his children, Mike Southerland and his wife Patti of Hamilton, Janet Griffin of Godley and Cheryll Santos of San Antonio. His grandchildren, Eric Lee, Cody Lee, Lynn Southerland, David Southerland, Alana Santos, and Isabella Santos; seven great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters, Elaine Poorman, Kathy Clapp, Steve Southerland, Randy Southerland, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The legacy Bill leaves behind is one of love, service, and dedication, which will continue to inspire and influence all who knew him. His generous spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family will remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
