Barbara Jane (Welch) Anderson

A graveside gathering for Barbara Jane (Welch) Anderson, 87, of Odessa, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the Pleasant View Cemetery also known as Jawbone Cemetery in Hill County, Texas. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Barbara Jane (Welch) Anderson, born on June 19, 1938, in Mt. Calm, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2026, in Odessa, Texas at home. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who held her family close. Embodying strength and endurance throughout her life.

She received her cosmetology license at age 47 in 1985. She applied her new skills at JC Penney in Odessa and Cleburne Texas.

Barbara's journey through life was characterized by her private nature. Barbara demonstrated her creativity through sewing clothes for her family and offered her skills to the public.

An avid reader, she presented an example to her children to explore new and varied ideas, particularly evident in her guidance to her son regarding alternative approaches to home building and solar alternatives.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bobby Ray Anderson; her parents, Lewis Edward Welch and Emma Lee Grawl; and her brother, Wayburne Welch.

She is survived by her children, Teresa Nixon and husband John, Paul Anderson and wife Joanna Debora King and husband Steve, and Jed Anderson and wife Christina Clifton; granddaughter, Kate Martin; and great-granddaughter, Emma Landreth.

Barbara Jane (Welch) Anderson will be remembered for her quiet strength and spirit.
