Alton "Joe" Leon Robinson

A memorial gathering for Alton "Joe" Leon Robinson, 84, of Cleburne, will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N Ridgeway Drive, Cleburne, TX 76033 on Friday September 11, 2026, where family and friends have the opportunity to gather for fellowship, pay respects and share memories with one another.

Alton Leon “Joe” Robinson, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026 in Glen Rose, Texas. He was born September 1, 1942, in Portales, New Mexico, to Elmer Levi “Bud” Robinson and Wilma Bell Campbell Robinson.

Joe lived a life full of stories and adventures. Over the years, he raced motorcycles, worked as a lineman, attended auctioneer school, and built a long and varied career as an electrician, brakeman and engineer for both Union Pacific and Santa Fe Railroad. He also spent many years cattle ranching, something that suited him perfectly. He was a country boy through and through and never strayed far from the life and values that meant the most to him.

Around Johnson County, Joe was hard to miss. Some knew him for his resemblance to Charlie Daniels, while others knew him by the nickname “Middle of the Road Joe.” Most, however, will remember him for his humor, his larger-than-life personality, and his ability to make a friend just about anywhere he went.

Joe was quite a character, and those who knew him rarely forgot him. He was friendly, loyal, funny, and always had a story to tell. He could strike up a conversation with nearly anyone and had a way of making people feel like they had known him for years. For all of the adventures, jobs, stories, and characters that filled his life, family remained one of the things Joe treasured most. He loved his family deeply, and the generations he leaves behind are a reflection of the life he built.

Joe’s family and friends will remember the laughter, the stories, the country spirit, and the unforgettable personality that made him simply Joe. His absence will be deeply felt, but the stories he left behind will be told for many years to come.

Joe was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Jacqueline Pawlak Robinson; parents; brothers, Dave Lee Robinson and Verbie Olen “Chuck” Robinson, and sisters, Sharon Sue Robinson and Phyllis Ann Robinson Coburn.

He is survived by his daughters, Joleta Robinson Wilson of Cleburne; Shanah Sewell and husband, Greg, of Itasca; and Kelly Robinson Moore and husband, Clint, of Rio Vista; his brother, Robert Wayne “Bob” Robinson and wife, Connie, of Clovis, New Mexico; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Jordan, Jared, Hanah, Mason, Gavin, Chloe, Parker, and Jackson; 14 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
