Samuel Crager passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 in Fort Worth surrounded by his family. He was born October 28, 1940 in Ballinger, Texas to Samuel Ward (Sr.) and Bethel Marie (West) Crager. Samuel married Rose Mary Miller, the love of his life, on February 24, 1968 in Odessa. Samuel served proudly in the Army 82nd Air Borne, Specialist 5th Class. He was a retired welder with over 55 years of service in the fabrication industry. Samuel was of the Pentecostal faith. He was an avid fisherman, art creator, family man, singer and lover of life.

Always smiling and mischievous, you could count on him to be there for you. He was an amazing husband and father, blessing the world with three daughters, a great listener and a man of integrity and honor. He displayed grace and mercy with his forgiving nature and heart. His best advice to everyone - “Don’t take any wooden nickels.”

Preceding him in death were his parents as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sam was special. A heart so full of love and good humor. He was a caregiver. Loved and protected his big brother. Looked after his little sis. That is the Sam I knew as a young adult. Thankfully we reunited after too many years. Sammy that wide grin will be missed. Wanda Crager Ward
