Mary & Ellis and Jimmy & Lorna, and Families,

Mere words cannot express our deep sorrow at the loss of your beloved mother, the matriarch of our family. We pray for your comfort in the knowledge we all share your grief and are here for you. Following is a tribute to Aunt Reba from my perspective as her firstborn niece:

First and foremost, Aunt Reba loved all her family, her step family, her country, and most of all God.

As a homemaker and career woman she played dual roles while conscientiously nuturing her children and marriage, she pursued a fulltime professional career. To say she was well known in Odessa, TX, is an understatement.

Aunt Reba was blessed with a dynamic and magnetic personality that always drew friends from all walks of life wherever she went. She loved traveling the world and she was also an accomplished artist. Aunt Reba was always happy to share her knowledge and talents whenever the opportunity presented itself. She was never too busy to make time whenever there was a need to be fulfilled.

As an impressionable young girl, I watched Aunt Reba fulfill her duties to her family, church, and employer. Early on in my youth, I knew in my heart I wanted to be just like her.

Aunt Reba was not only my eldest aunt who was quick to remind she was there when I was born, she became my role model, mentor, confidant, a "second mom," and my "go to person," as I matured as well as I aged. I will miss her, oh so much!

God has called my both grandmothers, my mother, my Godmother, and now, my eldest maternal aunt home while leaving a huge void in my heart; and, I am certain, in the hearts of the many others who loved her.
