Alvin Adolph Stegemoller
March 25, 1923 - February 19, 2010
Alvin Adolph Stegemoller was born on March 25th, 1923 in Indian Gap, Texas to Emil and Martha Reinert Stegemoller. He grew up on the dairy farm along with his siblings: Gertrude Schwartz of Junction, Texas; Ruth Zschiesche (deceased) of Kerrville; Joyce Rich (deceased) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Milton Stegemoller of Indian Gap; and Mike Stegemoller of Brownwood.
He attended school in Indian Gap, and at the age of 21, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a medic in Japan during World War II.
He met Dorcas Anna Bratton of Evant, Texas, and they were married on September 15, 1943. Four children were born to them. In 1967, Alvin moved his family from Indian Gap to Cleburne where he was employed by Walls Industries first in the shipping department and later as a salesman. He was a top producer for Walls. After retiring, he started the Foot Gear store in Cleburne with his son, Larry.
He loved his family and his grandchildren and enjoyed exploring his ranch in Indian Gap on his tractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, and one grandchild, Tracie Boyd of Cleburne. He is survived by his wife, Dorcas; two sons, Larry and his wife of Toni of Cleburne and Leroy and his wife Reta of Breckenridge, Texas; two daughters, Linda and her husband Keith Stevenson of Cleburne and Mary and her husband Layne Hall of Cabot, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Diana Thompson and Jennifer Herrington of Breckenridge, Brian Boyd of Cleburne and Jon Boyd of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jordan and Jessica Brinkley of Cleburne; and ten great grandchildren, Matthew and Callie Thompson of Breckenridge, Chelsey and Megan Herrington of Breckenridge, Corbin and Will Boyd of Cleburne, Miles Boyd of Little Rock, and Jada, Jolee, and Morgan Brinkley of Cleburne.
Services for Alvin Stegemoller will be held at Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel in Cleburne on Monday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne.
Visitation will be from 4-5:30 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
